The Board
The Board is responsible for governing Bathurst Basketball United according to the Constitution and Fair-Trading legislation. The Board will make informed decisions in the best interest of the organisation and members. The vision and strategy which underpins the operation of the Association will enable BBU to create opportunities for players, referees, coaches and officials to develop and enjoy basketball in Bathurst and the region.

Vince Connor: Casual Director
Role on the Board: Chairperson (Interim Role)
Vince has played basketball for more than five decades, beginning his love of the sport in Orange where he grew up. Vince has moved around regional NSW and has played basketball in the towns he has lived. Vince and his family moved to Bathurst in 1999 and, as well as playing in the local competition himself, Vince was the coach and team manager for two of his boys who played in the local competion and for Goldminers in the Western Junior League.
Vince has had years of experience working in the Education sector across all levels of school and 'head office'. He holds the degree of PhD, Masters in Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Science and Diploma of Education. He has held previous board positions with the Carillon Amateur Theatrical Society, Central West Youth Transition Services, and CENet. Vince is enthusiastic about putting back to sport he loves and he brings to the Board extensive experience in governance, policy development, strategic planning, risk management and administration.

Melissa Sullivan: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Treasurer/Public Officer/Registrar
Mel has years of experience working in the Finance sector as Business Finance Manager in Forbes and previously in the Banking and Credit Union sector. Mel is currently working as an Executive Assistant at Vivability. Mel brings to the Board extensive experience in finance and budgeting, policy development, strategic planning, and administration.
Mel has previously assisted in establishing the Forbes Junior Basketball Association. Mel played basketball for Bathurst Goldminers from Under 14 Girls through to Women’s State League, until having children. Mel has a passion to grow basketball in Bathurst and provide a pathway for juniors to develop and
be able to continue playing the game at a senior level both locally and at state level with a focus on being diverse and fully inclusive for all participants.

Iain Wood : Appointed Director
Role: Coaching Support Officer
Woodsy has experience in a variety of basketball, sporting and fitness industries. Through his career and study paths, he has gained experience in strategical and tactical planning to help achieve goals for teams and individuals.
Woodsy first became a Goldminer in 1990 as a member of the Boys U14 team. Iain played for the Goldminers through the junior years and into senior competition. His time in basketball has seen Iain represent Bathurst, the region, and NSW as a player and a coach on numerous occasions.
Woodsy's goal for the Goldminers is to help players and coaches recognise opportunities for development and challenge themselves to be the best they can be and have access to High Performance Programs through basketball.

Mal Bird: Casual Director
Mal is currently a Professional Firefighter with over twenty years experience working throughout metropolitan and regional operations with FRNSW.
He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance & Economics from Charles Sturt University and before making a career change, had many years working in the Finance sector.
Having two sons Mal has gained experience in both coaching and sports administration roles across a number of different junior sports and brings an understanding and enthusiasm well suited to Bathurst Goldminers. He played his junior basketball for Lachlan Conference, and was fortunate enough to experience a number of Sydney Kings development camps throughout his years on the courts. These experiences motivate Mal in pursuing the continued development of Country Athletes.
Mal brings a specific focus on developing the game of basketball within our region and has experience in developing a safety role within the sport, particularly around concussion protocol.

Lucinda Tutt: Appointed Director
Lucinda has enjoyed being involved with the Bathurst basketball community for over 4 years where her son developed a passion for basketball.
Lucinda has a diverse range of skills and brings many years’ experience having worked with a number of sporting regulatory bodies and community/member based associations.
With a great understanding of good governance and volunteer participation and engagement with people at all levels, Lucinda looks forward to working collaboratively with Bathurst Basketball United and its members to promote and support positive growth and development of the organisation for families to enjoy a great culture and warm family environment.
