The Board

The Board is responsible for governing Bathurst Basketball United according to the Constitution and Fair-Trading legislation. The Board makes informed decisions in the best interest of the organisation and its members. The vision and strategy which underpin the operation of the Association enable BBU to create opportunities for players, referees, coaches, and officials to develop and enjoy basketball in Bathurst and the region. 

Our Members

Vince Connor: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Chairperson, Governance, BNSW Liaison, Senior Competition Liaison

Vince has played basketball for more than five decades, beginning his love of the sport in Orange, NSW. He has played across regional NSW and moved to Bathurst in 1999. Vince has played in the local competition and coached and managed teams for his sons in both the local league and the Western Junior League.

Vince has extensive experience in the Education sector across all levels and holds a PhD, Masters in Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Science, and Diploma of Education. He has previously served on boards including the Carillon Amateur Theatrical Society, Central West Youth Transition Services, and CENet. Vince brings governance, policy development, strategic planning, risk management, and administration expertise to the Board.

Melanie Murray: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Coach Selection

Melanie is a dedicated member of the BBU Board, contributing her expertise in finance, administration, and governance. She plays a key role in maintaining the Association’s financial health, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting strategic decision-making. Melanie also oversees the operations of the Western Junior League (WJL), helping to ensure smooth competition management and development pathways for players and coaches.

Sharnie Latham: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Treasurer, Sponsorship and Fundraising

Sharnie oversees registrations, sponsorship, and financial matters, helping to ensure the smooth running of the Association’s operations. She brings a strong organisational skillset and a passion for basketball development in Bathurst.

Rhiannon Cowie: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Player & Coach Development Coordinator (Senior & Youth), Marketing and Media

Rhiannon leads player and coach development across Bathurst Basketball United, supporting pathways from junior programs through WJL and into senior basketball. She has introduced the Youth League Men’s U23 team for 2026 and established a junior coaching development pathway, providing structured opportunities for emerging players and coaches. Rhiannon mentors coaches, coordinates trials and selections, and fosters a professional, inclusive, and development-focused culture for both youth and senior programs.

Peter Francis: Elected Director
Role on the Board: Deputy Chair, MPIO, Coach selections

Peter supports the Association through coaching interviews, legal paperwork, liaising with Basketball NSW, and coordinating team nominations. He brings expertise in governance and compliance, ensuring smooth operations and effective support for players, coaches, and teams.

Kristy Wallace: Appointed Director
Role on the Board: Board Member, Player Registrar with BNSW, Presentation and Social Gatherings

Kristy provides administrative support to the Board and Association, assists with sponsorship management, and helps coordinate events. She plays a key role in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations and supporting strategic initiatives.

Amanda manages uniforms and assists with administration, ensuring programs and teams are equipped and supported for success.
